Traditional Elegance
This master bath was remodeled in a 3500 square foot home built in the early 1990’s. The dimensions of this space are approximately 140 square feet. The biggest design challenge was that it was a long narrow room measuring 100” x 201” with a subdivided and little used vanity area. It was necessary to remove walls and relocate the doorway, toilet, and shower.
The homeowners stated that they did not intend on moving so they wanted to replace the standard builder’s quality bathroom with a master bath more suited to their lifestyle. Several requests were made by the client including heated floors, rain shower head, whirlpool tub, two niches in the shower, body sprays, and a heated towel warmer.
The 16"x24" and 8"x16" classic light honed travertine with hand chiseled edges acts as the base color of the space which provides a strong contrast for the custom mahogany stained cabinetry and medicine cabinets. Since purple is the client's favorite color, we accented the room with purple glass mosaic, liners, and towels while bringing the same color up onto the walls.
The end result is an artistic interpretation of a traditional bathroom.
