Seaside Retreat
When this customer approached our company to design her master bath, we were given a watercolor of a beach scene and a collection of small shipwreck bottles she had purchased in Bermuda. This was to be our source of inspiration for this design.
Immediately this collection suggested a color palette of aquas and sandalwoods. A curved wall covered with glass mosaic was used to suggest a wave of flowing water. The track light system suspended from the ceiling follows the same curve as the wall. The shower floor is a smooth river rock.
In order to accommodate all the elements requested by the home owner, a 15 degree angle started to make sense in the space. The straight shower walls, chromatherapy spa tub, and front edge of linen cabinet are at 15 degrees with all the corners curved to soften the geometry. The 15"x15" tile on the floor was also placed on the same angle to stabilize the space between the tub deck and shower wall.
Several accessibility features were incorporated including minimum 36" door openings, 60" diameter circle in middle of the room, comfort height vanity countertop, bench seat and toilet.
